Troop Trips

Activity and Extended Trip Application
Used for overnight activities, trips of more than 75 miles, for trips of three or more consecutive nights, camping on non-council owned property, high-risk activites, and sensitive issues.

Activity Evaluation Form
Used for trips more than 75 miles, overnight activities including camping, extended travel, and high-risk activites. Due to the Girl Scout Program Center one week after trip.

Where to go, what to do

Field trips offer opportunities for Girl Scouts and exciting variations to troop meetings. An adult troop helper or girls (Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scout troops) may make arrangements by following these simple guidelines:

  1. Call the owner or manager of the store or facility. For a large firm, ask the operator to connect you with the individual responsible for arranging tours.

  2. State the troop's purpose for making the trip.

  3. Offer alternative times and dates to fit their schedules. Allow adequate lead time to schedule the trip.

  4. Confirm arrival time and number attending one or two days before the trip.

  5. Arrive and leave on time.

  6. Say thank you as you leave and send a thank you note.

Choosing a place to visit is limited only by one's imagination. Handbook and badge activities suggest many trips for little or no cost. Other ideas are:

Within and near Girl Scouts of the Fox River Area, Inc. there are a number of places to go for minimal cost. As a service to our volunteers, we've compiled a list of possible field trip sites. Please be aware that these sites are not necessarily "certified" or "approved" by Girl Scouts of the Fox River, Inc. Although we would like to assure the quality and safety record of each facility, it is not possible for us to make all those assessments on a regular basis. Each troop is expected to assess the appropriateness of the site based on the guidelines found in Safety-Wise.

For activities that are high risk, such as horseback riding, you are encouraged to contact the director of program and property at the Girl Scout Program Center, 920-734-4559 or 800-924-1211 or email program@gsfra.org

Remember to complete the Activity and Extended Trip Application for overnight activities, trips more than 75 miles one way, camping on non-council owned property, high risk activities, and extended trips of three or more consecutive nights. These forms are due to the Girl Scout Program Center at least two weeks before the activity. An Activity Evaluation form is due one week after the event. These forms can alert us to problems at specific sites or allow us to share successful programs with others who are looking for similar activities.
