Program Aide Training (PA)
May 10, 9 a.m.-May 11, noon, 2008 / Camp Winnecomac, Kaukauna
A Program Aide is a Girl Scout in grade 7-12, interested in sharing her
skills with younger girls. After training, a PA can work under the supervision
of an adult leader in a variety of settings, such as with a troop, at
council events, or at day camp.
Grade 7-12 / $20/girl
Counselor-in-Training I (CIT I)
June 15-27, 2008 / Camp Birch Trails, Irma
A great opportunity for older girls who would like to work at camp some
day. Gain leadership skills, work directly with girls and have a lot of
fun. Learn about the different jobs at camp and visit other camps to see
how they run. You must attend the two weeks listed and are then free to
sign up for as many additional weeks of camp as you would like.
Grade 10-12 / $230/girl ($55 for additional weeks)
Successful Sitter
June 23, 2008, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. / Girl Scout Program Center
Learn communication, child development, injury prevention, and safety
skills in a fun and interactive way to become a successful babysitter.
Receive a Caring for Children Badge and a certificate of completion from
Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
Age 11-15 / $25/girl / Event 6219 / Deadline 2 weeks prior
Sitter CPR
June 24, 2008, 9 a.m.-noon / Girl Scout Program Center
Learn how to perform CPR and respond to a choking infant or child. Must
have completed the Successful Sitter training.
Age 11-15 / Free / Event 6220 / Deadline 2 weeks prior
Counselor-in-Training II (CIT II)
July 6-25, 2008 / Camp Birch Trails, Irma
This three-week program is for girls who have participated in CIT I and
would like to gain further skills at camp. Become Lifeguard and CPR certified
by taking the American Red Cross course. Learn about each of the specialty
areas of camp and shadow staff in one. Spend two weeks apprenticing and
gaining leadership skills in your chosen specialty, or come back for additional
weeks to apprentice in other areas.
Grade 10-12 / $335/girl (covers classes, books and certifications; no
fee for additional weeks)
Lifeguard Training Class
June 13-16, 2008 / Camp Birch Trails, Irma
This American Red Cross course will be a mix of in-water time and classroom
time. Practical skills, swim and classroom tests must be taken and passed
to receive certification. All participants must be strong swimmers.
Age 16+ (adults encouraged) / $100/person (includes lodging, meals and
materials)
2008 National Girl Scout Leadership Institute
Oct. 29 and 30, 2008
Girl Scouts in grades 6-12 are invited to attend this program immediately
preceding the GSUSA National Convention in Indianapolis. Learn about healthy
lifestyle choices, build leadership skills, and have fun in Circle City.
Cost is $125 per girl (transportation, lodging and meals are not included
in this fee.) This event is hosted by Girl Scouts of Central Indiana and
GSUSA.
