TROOP NEWS
Spring Registration
Register your troop for the 2008-2009
Girl Scout membership year and receive a free patch! Why register
early? (1) Girl Scout Cookie Coupons may be used before they are
lost or expired. (2) Girls in your troop will receive a free patch
that can be awarded at your troop's end of year event. (3) There
will be less paper work at the start of the school year so you will
have a quicker, easier start next fall. (4) Don't know which girls
are returning next year? Register the girls so they can attend council
sponsored events even if they are not involved in a troop next year.
Spring registration packets will be available at the Girl Scout
Program Center and/or your upcoming service unit meetings. Call
your membership staff person to make arrangements to pick up your
packet if you are unable to be at the service unit meeting. Free
patch offer ends June 30, 2008.
Horse stable liability insurance
Taking a troop to a horse stable for an event is considered a high
risk activity, and as with all high risk activities, there are some
additional procedures that should be followed, per Safety-Wise.
Make sure the stable operator provides you with evidence of liability
insurance for you to forward to the council. If the stable operator
is not able to do so, it is recommended that you find another stable.
Please take the time to ensure the safety of the girls and consult
Safety-Wise and follow the checklists.
Mutual of Omaha insurance information
For insurance claims through Mutual of Omaha: (a) All allergic reactions
are considered an injury/accident. (b) Food poisoning is considered
an injury/accident. (c) Sickness is defined as colds, flus, measles,
mumps, etc. that require medical attention. Again, accidents/injuries
are covered under all plans. Sickness is only covered under the
additional activity insurance plans of 3E, 3P and 3PI.
